DATAROCK er Norges mest internasjonalt aktive band med over 600 konserter i 32 land jorden rundt bak seg.

Bandet har spilt intet mindre enn 17 turneer kun i Amerika siden 2007.

Dette inkluderer festivaler som CMJ (NYC), WMC (Miami), SXSW (Austin), Coachella (CA), Download (San Fransisco), Detour (LA), Virgin (Toronto), Montral Jazz Festival (Montreal), MX Beat (Mexico City), Planet Terra (Sao Paolo, Brasil) og Personal Fest (Buenos Aires, Argentina).

Turneene inkludrer blant annet 42 ulike byer bare sommeren 2008, og 26 byer på releaseturneen for albumet "RED" høsten 2009.

Den positive kritikken utgivelsene og konsertene mottar lagt sammen med den uvanlig høye aktivitetsfrekvensen har gitt DATAROCK en meget synlig profil i blant annet Amerikansk presse, både on-line og i aviser og magasiner.
Bandet har også opptrådt på diverse TV show såsom to ganger på det 3. største talk-showet i USA, Jimmy Kimmel Live (ABC), hvor bandet sist spilte på utendørsscenen på selve releasedatoen for det nye albumet sitt, "RED".

DATAROCK jobber også med en av verdens tyngste aktører innen publishing, Artwerk, en joint venure mellom Nettwerk Music Group og spillgiganten EA (Electronic Arts), noe som har medført at DATAROCK har låter med i rekordmange gigantspill såsom Fifa '08, Fifa '00, Fifa '10, Fifa Street, Sims 2, Sims 3, Need For Speed og Madden NFL.
Hele 22 profilerte spill har med en låt av DATAROCK, noe som når ut til minimum 250 millioner mennesker.

Låtene har også endt opp i kampanjer for giganter såsom Coca Cola, Apple, Samsung, FOX og RadioShack samt en rekke andre reklamer, TV serier og filmer over hele hele verden.

DATAROCK har fokusert på Amerika siden 2007, men bandet har også turnert og spilt festivaler i resten av verden parallelt og fra før av: Summer Sonic i Tokyo og Osaka, Good Vibrations, Falls, Field Day, Southbound, Sunset Sounds, Come Together, Future Music og Meridith Music Festiva i Australia, Sonar og Benicassim i Spania, ArezzoWave i Italia, Sudoeste i Portugal, Stereoleto i Russland, Be2gether i Litauen, Pohoda i Slovakia, Les Ardentes i Belgia, Transmusicales og Microcosm i Frankrike, Metropolis og Eurosonic i Nederland, Berlin Festival, Pop Kom, Hurricane og South Side i Tyskland, Koneisto i Finland, Airwaves på Island, Arvika og Hultsfred i Sverige, Roskilde '05 og '07 i Danmark, Reading, Leads, O2 Wireless, Camden Crawl, The Great Escape, Loop, Latitude, Lovebox, Dot To Dot, Orange Evolution, Eurocultured, In The City og Oxygen i Storbritannia, samt alle tenkelige festivalene i Norge - Øya, Quart, BergenFest, NattJazz, by:Larm, Lost Weekend, +47, EKKO, NuMusic, Midnattsrocken, Bygdalarm, Utkant, Pereferi, Storås, Pstereo, UKA, Stavernfestivalen, Månefestivalen, Malakoff, Oslo Live, Ekstremsportveko, etc.

Også utgivelsene har mottatt strålende kritikker og selv debut albumet kom inn på 36. plass på NME (New Musical Express) sin oversikt over de beste albumene i 2006. I 2007 kom låten "Computer Camp Love" inn på 88. plass i Rolling Stone Magazine sin oversikt over årets beste låter, samt at det nest største musikkmagasinet i USA, Spin Magazine, hadde låten "See What I Care" som "essential download of the summer".

Det Spellemann (Norges "Grammis") nominerte albumet "RED" er også rost opp i skyene med strålende anmeldelser verden over. Ikke minst i Norge med blant annet terningkast 6 i Bergens Tidende og syv måneders sammenhengende playlisting på NRK P3.

Singelen "Give It Up" ble også den 9. mest spilte låten på NRK P3 i 2009.

DATAROCK avsluttet i november '09 en omfattende norgesturne med Rikskonsertene og Statnett over hele Norge, bandet har turnert over hele Nord Amerika og Storbritannia, i november 2009 og januar 2010 bar det tilbake til festivaler og klubber i Australia og Japan, og nå kommer turen altså til Det Europeiske Kontinent.

Den forrige singelen "The Pretender" ble nylig sluppet med eksklusiv premiere på MTV i USA, og 6. april slipper vi den fjerde singelen "Amarillion" fra albumet "RED".

DATAROCK er i aller høyeste grad et verdensband med synlig profil, og bandet er stadig i stigende kurve. Som eksempel har bandet hatt over 3.000.000 lyttinger på myspace profilen sin, og platene er i salg jorden rundt, men DATAROCK kjører stadig på i god gammel DIY ånd og er fremdeles signet på sitt eget label, Young Aspiring Professionals (YAP Records), og før sommeren og høstens store utgivelse, DATAROCK - LIMITED EDITION (med fem album og en konsert DVD) drar bandet ut på en aldri så liten turne for å promotere "The Pretender" og den kommende singelen "Amarillion.

DATAROCK's "RED"

A small step for DATAROCK...

It's a brand new year, and even though you're all either in the red, seeing red, on red alert or being caught red handed DATAROCK's got good news for each and everyone of you: the difficult second album is finally finished and it's the best thing to happen mankind since the C64. The red letter day isn't till June, but we'll be letting you in on a few red hot secrets long before.

DATAROCK's "RED" is no less than a masterpiece based on the good old principle of artistic theft ("amateurs borrow, professionals steal"), and of course again we've dug ourselves into the data about the rock of the late seventies & early eighties: the art, the music, the films, the subversive & popular culture, the new theory, the new technology and all that new equipment. As I'm sure we all agree there's never been a more exiting period of time within the world's collective cultural history. The years between '76 and '83 are in all ways the peak of cultural evolution. The zenith, the rise and the fall.  

When starting to produce we decided to try and create a brand new trinity of inspiration. Fela Kuti, Afrika Bambaataa & Kraftwerk were to replace Talking Heads, DEVO and Happy Mondays, and all the equipment to go on the album had to be made before 1983. Of course, as Sophocles taught us long ago, one simply can't escape the natural course of events, so yet again that original trinity was right back in place. Gerald Cassale of DEVO even ended up helping out creatively in the process, by coincidence we ended up on the same stage as the Mondays on a number of occasions, and Talking Heads, well, I guess we all know DATAROCK's pretty much just some kind of tribute band anyways. No point in hiding the evident right, so one of the tracks is nothing but a tribute where we list DATAROCK's favorite Talking Heads tunes. The title's "True Stories" as in David Byrne's motion picture from 1986, and the music video is all about paying homage to their classic concert movie "Stop Making Sense" from 1984.  

We've essentially been working with the same guys and the same studios back home as we did on "DATAROCK DATAROCK", but this time we added a few stays with the Reverend over at Wendyhouse in London - some call it a house, we call it a home. For whatever reason this added a tiny bit of a new flavor, and though we're not quite sure where it all came from, somehow DATAROCK ended up doing something new. We got a little bit of West End, a hint of the Caribbean, a dash of West Africa and a whole lot of pulsating postmodernity. Was it the Commonwealth rushing trough our veins? Was it just hanging out in that multicultural metropolis? Let's have a look at what happened lyrically.

Another thing new is the fact that we finally decided to come clear on a very important issue: DATAROCK never was just a duo. Cult or sect would be exaggerating, and in danger or revoking the red fear we're not gonna claim we're the red army. You probably wont believe it, but DATAROCK's already done 500 shows in more than 30 countries, and for that insane number of shows we've had to rotate the on-stage line up and share the administrative and creative responsibilities. If you've seen us twice it's pretty likely that you've seen more than four of the guys, put it that way. We're a few key members taking care of a lot  and whole lot of members taking care of a little, but only put together and joined forces we get DATAROCK as we know it. It's still pretty much a DIY affair. We're just a whole lot of selves who share the chores to get it done.   So there you go. A brand new album's on its way, the tracksuit's zipped up and DATAROCK's ready to wave that red flag for the second time.
